Just reinstalled Vista!

April 19, 2009

Well, it seems it was acting up. Everytime I started IE8, 3 processes: explorer.exe, lsass, and svchost.exe went cpu crazy (cpu time hog). Most of the time it was explorer.exe going cpu crazy. I download process explorer, but it was no help. I foolishly attempt to debug lsass (knowing something would happen) by attaching the visual studio debugger to it. My computer did not hang, but the current application windows I had open did not want to respond or very slowly responded. Luckily Win 7 and XP are on my other partitions, so I took my important data out of the Vista partition, and sayonara Vista ( for now ).

I have a data partition, but I used it for downloads, project files, and other things. I never really stored my documents, pictures, music, videos, or something to the like there. Vista was/maybe still is my main OS used to store things like there. No more. I am using my data partition extensively now.

The boot partitions (Xp, Vista, seven) are going to be used store whatever they need to operate and whatever programs installed on them. I will initiate a backup and it should be the last time I have to pop in the Vista CD in. I have backups of the old Vista, but I will not restore it in fear that the accused cpu crazy processes in the backups are tainted. At least Vista is back to quick startups again! Woohoo!
